MacKay & Company releases tire distribution market study

MacKay & Company has released the results of its annual study of the medium- and heavy-duty tire distribution market in U.S.

The Tire Distribution Report is the second report in the annual series that focuses on the tire aftermarket.

MacKay & Company says 160 tire distributors provided sales mix data, brands sold, pricing, inventory, sourcing practices and distribution insights for the report, while the company adds it also surveys 700 to 900 fleets each year on replacement miles by wheel position, grouped by vocation along with distribution channel and point of service locations. The company says last survey with fleets identified For-hire fleets with 100 or more trucks accounting for 25 percent of the overall tire aftermarket.

Overall, the new report pegs the 2018 tire replacement market at $10.6 billion, up 3.3 percent over 2017. The recent report
