When rebuilding Cummins ISX/QSX engines, the mating head and block surfaces might not have the same pristine finish as the factory originals, says AFA Industries. New head bolts from AFA compensate for minor irregularities by having a higher “torque-to-yield” value.
The resulting higher clamping pressure, especially when used in conjunction with AFA’s five-layer graphite head gasket, provides optimum sealing solution for these engines, the company says.
AFA says they’re available in matched set kits (AFA part number AFA-ISXHBK) or separately (part numbers A3678506 & A3678804).
