In its sophomore year, HDA Truck Pride says its Top Tech Competition brought in twice the applications and a new round of finalists to advance to the hands-on competition.

Debuting in 2018, the Top Tech Competition features a 60-question written exam, which is completed remotely. With the scores tallied, the top six technicians will advance to compete in the Maryland Motor Truck Association’s (MMTA) hands-on competition. This day-long competition will be held in Severn, Md., with the top two technicians advancing to TMC SuperTech in Raleigh this fall. The competition is open to all technicians in the HDA Truck Pride family, including its 400 Truck Service Expert locations.

“This is a huge opportunity for our Truck Service Experts and member technicians to compete on a national level. We’re so pleased with not only the increased participation year over year, but also the excitement level of the participants,” says Nikki Paschall, director of Marketing, HDA Truck Pride. “We’d also like to thank Dayton Parts for sponsoring this event and reiterating our focus on training and our end user programs.”

These six participants will be competing this weekend for the MMTA hands-on competition:

  • Evan Lang, E.L.M. Repair & Refrigeration, Edgar, Wis.
  • Brian Judy, RT&T Repair, East Dubuque, Ill.
  • James Benedict, The Service Company, Dayton, Ohio
  • Eric Curler, RT&T Repair, East Dubuque, Ill,
  • Kurt Schreiner, E.L.M. Repair & Refrigeration, Edgar, Wis.
  • Joel Maassen, Vander Haag’s, Spencer, Iowa
