CVSN charitable auction donationThe first-ever Commercial Vehicle Solutions Network (CVSN) charity auction was a major success.

CVSN added the charity auction to its Aftermarket Distribution Summit this year as a way to carry on the tradition created by the former Heavy Duty Aftermarket Canada organization. Held last Tuesday during the event, the auction featured two dozen items donated by industry suppliers and distributors and raised more than $46,000 CAD and nearly $35,000 USD.

All proceeds were donated to the Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation, the official fundraising body for the Alberta Children’s Hospital. The foundation is dedicated to raising funds to further the pursuit of excellence in child health and family-centered care, and is committed to its vision to lead in four key areas: child cancer, neurosciences, research and family-center care.

“On behalf of the 102,000 patients, families, and staff cared for at the Alberta Children’s Hospital each year, thank you to CVSN and their business partners for your commitment to making excellence in children’s health and wellness a priority,” says Melanie Sortland, community initiatives and events manager, Alberta Children’s Hospital.

CVSN says its donation will fund excellence in family-centered child health programs, specialized life-saving equipment, and advanced pediatric equipment and other programs not covered under the Canadian health care system like music and art therapy programs, and day care. The organization also extends a special thank you to Ecco’s Greg Jordan, who served as the official auctioneer at last week’s event.

“The generosity of the people in our industry is beyond amazing and this was very evident at the first ever auction to support children’s charities in Canada and next year we hope to do the same at our June Summit in Boston,” adds CVSN Executive Director Angelo Volpe.
