Volvo, Mack piloting insurance service digital platform

Volvo Trucks Offers Integrated Insurance To CustomersBoth Mack Financial Services (MFS) and Volvo Financial Services (VFS) announced Thursday they are working with leading insurtech company REIN to pilot an integrated digital insurance offering.

The service’s enhanced capabilities will soon enable Mack and Volvo customers to connect in real time with insurance companies for a more seamless experience.

“Mack is pleased that our customers will be able to have a simpler, more convenient insurance experience,” says Jonathan Randall, Mack Trucks senior vice president of North American sales and commercial operations. “The service being piloted will soon enable insurance providers to reach customers in real-time through their devices, enhancing overall communication and service levels.”

“Through this offering, Volvo Trucks customers can easily access different coverage options, make claims and handle other insurance-related needs directly from a mobile phone, tablet or computer,” adds Stephen Yonce, vice president, Volvo Financial Services. “In doing so, they are afforded a quicker and more convenient insurance experience, further enhancing overall communication and service levels.”

The OEMs say they plan to first launch the service nationwide before entering international markets in the future.

“This integrated service allows Volvo Trucks to harness the power of data to better serve our customers,” says Peter Voorhoeve, president, Volvo Trucks North America. “Insurance companies will have the ability to leverage valuable information, whether that is their customer’s vehicle history for faster claims support or an operator’s responsible driving history to potentially reduce a customer’s insurance premium.”

Adds Charles Carter, vice president of strategy and business development, MFS, the new service “is designed to allow Mack Trucks customers to handle their insurance-related needs, including quotes, from a mobile phone, tablet or computer. Insurance companies will soon have access to live data about an insured customer’s vehicle and their driving behavior for faster claims support, while using telematics data to potentially reduce a customer’s insurance premium based on truck usage and a responsible driving history. We look forward to offering this emerging and innovative technology to Mack customers, and we’re pleased to roll this out in the coming months.”

The OEMs say additional program details will be announced at a later date.
