JM Family Enterprises, Inc., a privately held company with over $18 billion in revenue and more than 4,700 associates, recently made another significant investment in its growth strategy with the acquisition of National Truck Protection (NTP), a leading service contract provider in the medium- and heavy-duty used commercial truck industry servicing single truck owners and commercial fleet operators.

Building on JM Family’s long history in the automotive industry and its commitment to helping other businesses succeed, this acquisition is the first significant acquisition in the company’s core automotive business in recent years, the company says.

“We are thrilled to welcome National Truck Protection and its 76 associates to JM Family,” says Brent Burns, president and CEO, JM Family Enterprises. “Our goal is to strategically leverage our strong culture and core competencies, taking advantage of the synergies that exist between us to ensure the continued success for National Truck Protection and their customers.”

Through this acquisition, the company becomes a new division of JM&A Group, a subsidiary of JM Family. With 45 years of leadership in the industry, JM&A Group focuses on improving automotive dealers’ performance by offering Finance & Insurance products and services, dealership training and consulting.

Since they both currently operate in the F&I space, the two companies will benefit from sharing best practices and collaborating on new products to best serve their customers' needs. NTP and JM&A Group are also culturally aligned, with both companies prioritizing the value of their associates and building long-term relationships with their partners to achieve mutual success, the companies say.

“JM Family and JM&A Group are well known as innovative leaders in the industry and for doing business the right way,” says Wade Bontrager, president and CEO, NTP. “We look forward to leveraging JM&A’s success to optimize our business by enhancing our leading products and services to grow the success of our business partners and keep our trucking customers on the road and in business.”

Founded in 1983, NTP will continue to operate as a standalone company and maintain its headquarters in Winston Salem, N.C.

This important acquisition represents JM Family’s continued commitment to growing its core automotive business in addition to expanding into new industries. Since 2019, JM Family has acquired seven new companies, which now includes NTP.
