Market moves: After quick start, transactions slow in June

Mergers and acquisitions roundup

After a quick start acquisitions in the dealer, aftermarket and supplier segments slowed dramatically in June. A few regular players made moves in the M&A space but most of the market was silent entering the summer months.

Premier Truck Group was the first business to announce a purchase, acquiring Transolutions Truck Centres in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada on June 5. "We are thrilled to expand our North American presence with the Freightliner, Western Star and Thomas Built Bus brands. For more than 30 years, Transolutions Truck Centers has built a strong legacy of providing quality service to customers across Manitoba.  We look forward to continuing their legacy and welcome TSTC to the Premier Truck Group team," said Premier Truck Group President Ron Long.

FleetPride was next, continuing its recent surge of acquisitions with a June 6 announcement buying RPM Truck Repair. "We are thrilled to welcome RPM Truck Repair into the FleetPride family," said Mike Harris, FleetPride president of parts and service. "This acquisition aligns perfectly with our long-term growth strategy and enables us to continue building a one-stop solution for our commercial heavy-duty customers. With our extensive onboarding and integration process, RPM Truck Repair is fully integrated day-one."

Also announced on June 6 was Hinton Transportation Investments (HTI) purchase of Trailer Parts & Supply Inc., a Chicago-based independent distributor of heavy-duty trailer parts. “HTI greatly values the legacy of relationships built between people over the years. Due to their unique position and history in the market, U.S. Trailer Parts & Supply will continue that legacy as a standalone business unit of HTI in the greater Chicago area,” said Dan Millar, chief commercial officer with HTI.

The only acquisition in the supplier sector came on June 7, when Tramec announced its purchase CS Automation. “The acquisition of CS Automation broadens our manufacturing and distribution capabilities for our industrial groups and expands our reach into new markets throughout North America. We look forward to growing the business and building upon the years of experience and hard work of Mike and the entire CS Automation team,” said Tramec President and CEO Gary Sullo.
