In the months ahead, TPS will consistently spotlight our finalists and their wonderful operations, recognizing and congratulating them for their success leading up to the presentation of the 25th Distributor of the Year Award at Heavy Duty Aftermarket Week in January in Grapevine, Texas.
We continue today with Freedom Truck & Trailer Parts, a finalist for Distributor of the Year for the third time (2023, 2024). Acme Truck Brake & Supply Co., was previously featured last week.
When was your business founded, and by whom?
We were founded in 2002 by Grant Sorenson and Carlton Fong.
Freedom Truck & Trailer Parts delivers OEM-quality heavy-duty truck and trailer parts at lower prices, backed by decades of industry expertise, fast service and technical support.
We help fleets, repair shops, municipalities and owner-operators reduce downtime and operating costs while receiving the same trusted brands they would buy from dealerships.
Do you offer any additional services to complement your parts offering?
We build gear units on site (transmissions and differentials). We also reline brake shoes.
How do you differentiate your business from your competitors?
Most competitors sell parts. Our team solves problems. For example, we:
Diagnose recurring brake failures and gear unit failures
Recommend the correct replacement the first time.
Help fleets reduce maintenance costs with manufacturing knowledge, quality control and the ability to customize solutions.
What is the biggest challenge facing your business in 2026?
Everyone is competing on price. Large national distributors, online sellers and dealerships are all fighting for the same customers. At the same time, tariffs and supply-chain volatility are increasing costs and squeezing margins across the heavy-duty aftermarket.

And, in the meantime, many fleets are still cautious because freight demand has been uneven. Customers are keeping equipment longer and delaying purchases when they can, including parts and maintenance items.
Why do you believe the heavy-duty aftermarket has nominated you for this award?
The company’s commitment to becoming a trusted partner for both its vendors and customers throughout the Upper Rockies region reflects more than just its dedication to exceptional service. It demonstrates an ongoing commitment to growth, innovation and continuous improvement.
By strengthening relationships, delivering reliable solutions and adapting to the changing needs of the industry, the company continues to evolve in ways that position it for long-term success and reinforce that it is moving in the right direction.
Stay tuned, as next week we will share more about 2026 award finalist Kelly’s Truck Parts.
