TMC holding ‘Phase 2’ webinar on Thursday

TMCThe Technology & Maintenance Council (TMC) will hold an online webinar on EPA/NHTSA Phase 2 Regulations from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. ET tomorrow, Jan. 5, 2017, as part of the lead up to multiple featured sessions on the topic that will be held at next month’s TMC Annual Meeting in Nashville.

TMC believes vehicle specifications are going to dramatically change during the next 10 years as the commercial trucking industry prepares for the second round of National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), known as Phase 2.

These regulations, which were finalized last August, build on the first phase of standards affecting model year 2014-2018 heavy-duty trucks and buses and are rooted in the regulatory history of EPA’s SmartWay Transport Partnership program, and extensive technical and engineering analyses, federal officials say. The impact of the rule is far-reaching, affecting nearly all vehicle systems across an 10-year manufacturing span. It will apply to model year 2019-2027 engines, vehicles and trailers.

TMC says tomorrow’s one-hour webinar will give participants a sneak peak at a special, three-part session to be held at TMC’s 2017 Annual Meeting on how greenhouse gas regulations will impact fleet operations and revolutionize vehicle design in the coming years. Participants will also get the chance to offer questions to be answered in greater detail during the subsequent three-part session, to be held Tuesday, Feb. 28 and Wednesday, March 1 at TMC’s 2017 Annual Meeting in Nashville, Tenn.
