Leadership panel to convene at UTA convention

03 02 17 uta 300x200The UTA will host an industry leadership panel at its November convention. Senior executives from the four major OEMs: Navistar, Paccar, Daimler and Volvo/Mack will comprise the panel, and be available to answer questions posed by attendees. The panel will convene on the first day of the convention right after UTA President Rick Clark’s opening remarks, according to an announcement.

“It’s rather uncommon for representatives of the four manufacturers to all be available in the same place, and at the same time,” says Michael Cox, UTA board member and panel moderator. “This is a tremendous opportunity for UTA members to learn first-hand from these industry leaders.” Cox will start things off by asking the panel a few prepared questions, and then audience members will be able to ask the panel questions, via a smart phone app.

Cox anticipates the panel will discuss where the trucking industry stands today and where manufacturing may be tomorrow. The effect of electric trucks on the industry, self-driving trucks, used trucks and emissions, as well as tariffs and their possible downstream effect on used trucks, are some of the other areas sure to be discussed.

“We hope to grow this into an annual event,” Cox says. “In future years we’ll also feature perspectives from other industry players, including the fleets and finance companies.”

The UTA’s 19th Annual Convention, will be held Nov. 7-10 at Loews Sapphire Falls Resort at Universal, in Orlando, Fla. For more information, and to register, CLICK HERE.
