Meritor announced Monday availability of an expanded suite of ProTec solutions scalable for light-, medium- and heavy-duty tactical wheeled vehicles and armored personnel carriers.
“Based on specific requirements for payload, performance and protection, defense contractors, law enforcement agency contractors and other third parties can now choose from a suite of proven ProTec solutions for tactical wheeled vehicles and armored personnel carriers that must operate dependably over the world’s most challenging terrains,” says David Damian, director, defense for Meritor. “The suite’s weight-efficient line of products offers solutions for virtually any tactical or armored wheeled vehicle application to meet the most demanding specifications.”
Meritor says customers can specify a complete drivetrain solution for their applications centered on ProTec High Mobility Independent Suspensions (HMIS) and beam axles in combination with Meritor drivelines and transfer cases, or choose individual ProTec axle and suspension components.
The company says the scalable ProTec suite’s weight-efficient HMIS is built for applications requiring gross axle weight ratings (GAWR) from 9,000 to 29,000 lb. The ProTec Series all-wheel drive beam axles deliver reliability, payload capability and ground clearance for demanding environments from 8,000 to 29,000 lb.
“Meritor axles and HMIS platforms have been the solution of choice for the United States Army’s fleet of 2.5- and 5-ton vehicles for more than 50 years − right up to the modern FMTV and MRAP vehicles,” Damian says. “These solutions offer protection and mobility to our warfighters and first-responders alike.”
