IMI has introduced Equal W, a product that continuously balances wide base tires while in use.
According to IMI, some fleets use wide base tires to achieve weight reduction and potential fuel savings of 2 to 3 percent. Equal provides similar benefits by saving fleets 2 percent in fuel economy by continuously balancing the entire wheel end when used in all wheel positions (TMC RP 1111B), the company says.
EQUAL W is easy for customer to install in wide base tires. Simply drop a bag in a wide base tire during the mounting process. By continuously balancing, EQUAL will not only save 2 percent in fuel economy for the life of the tire, but also reduce irregular wear patterns that can cause premature tire takeoff, IMI says.
