Continental adds Tompkins Industries to North American distribution network

Tompkins Industries, one of North America’s largest sources of hydraulic adapters and fluid power products, has agreed to distribute Continental hydraulic products.

“Tompkins is a well-respected wholesaler of hydraulics,” says Ryan Gocher, Continental NAFTA’s hydraulics sales and marketing manager.

“We are extremely pleased with the partnership and anticipate a smooth transition in the changeover process. Tompkins fits perfectly into our plans to expand our North American distribution channels. This incredible agreement with Tompkins is a testament to the focus and dedication of the entire ContiTech hydraulics team, and really serves as a statement to the importance and strategic value that the hydraulic hose market has to Continental.”

Tompkins National Sales Manager Bill Hartman said the changeover will be good for the company.

“It’s a great fit for us, too. I like to say we found each other in a cornfield in Iowa,” he laughed.  “But in all seriousness, Continental gives us the corporate support we have sought for some time. We’ve been in business since 1967 so we knew what we were looking for and found it in Continental. They have the quality products and dedicated support that will help us grow our business in North America.”

The Olathe, Kansas-based Tompkins has 14 locations throughout North America to serve their customers. In addition to their extensive presence in the aftermarket, Tompkins is heavily involved in the agriculture original equipment market. They provide industrial hose and assemblies as well as a variety of hydraulic adapters and fluid power products.

Both Tompkins and Continental anticipate the changeover will be completed by the end of August. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
