Day 3 at TMC

Another day, another full slate of activities at the Technology & Maintenance Council (TMC) Fall Meeting in Orlando.

Wednesday’s activities were highlighted by the crowing of the tenth SuperTech national grand champion. For the second year in a row, the honor went to FedEx Freight’s Mark McLean. FedEx actually swept the medal podium as second and third-place finishers Eric Vos and Charles Kerr also represented the shipper in the contest.

The day also had several technical sessions, including an interesting discussion on tire wear.

CARB to allow ZEV credit transfers across states, classes

CARB will allow OEMs to use credits earned for light-, medium-duty ZEV sales to offset Class 7-8 deficits; also will enable ‘pooling’ of credits across opt-in states, among other changes.

If finalized, this proposal would remove all greenhouse gas standards for light-, medium- and heavy-duty vehicles and heavy-duty engines, starting with EPA’s first greenhouse gas regulations set in 2010 for light-duty vehicles and those set in 2011 for medium-duty vehicles and heavy-duty vehicles and engines – which includes off-cycle credits like the much hated start-stop feature on most new cars.
