FedEx’s Vos nabs SuperTech Title

Eris Vos finally won the big one.

After finishing runner-up to co-worker Mark McLean the past two years, Vos was named the Grand Champion at the 11th annual Technology and Maintenance Council (TMC) SuperTech National Technicians Skills Competition Wednesday at the TMC Fall Meeting in Orlando.

Vos thanked his wife, children and FedEx coworkers for their support in taking home his first title.

“Eric demonstrated tremendous skill and deep technical knowledge in winning this year’s TMCSuperTech National Technicians Skills Competition Grand Champion,” says Carl Kirk, ATA vice president of maintenance, information technology & logistics. “Congratulations to him, to FedEx and to all the competitors at this year’s event.”

Vos, from Boise, Idaho, and co-worker Drew Dilmuth from Jacksonville, Fla., also joined together to win the team competition in what proved to be a huge week for FedEx. The company also second-place finisher Brian Blevins, Harrison, Ark., third-place finisher Josh Nordick, Roseville, Minn., and fourth-place finisher Kevin Roumpapas, to coast to the team competition victory.

In addition to TMCSuperTech, TMC also named Daniel Hanna, a student at Forsyth Technical Community College, winner of the Velociti TMCFutureTech National Student Technicians Skills Compeititon. Jonathan Kelly, Southside Virginia Community College, finished second and Karl Kerutis, WyoTech Blairsville placed third.

“For eleven years, TMCSuperTech has highlighted the skills and professionalism displayed in our industry by technicians like Eric and I congratulate him and all the competitors at this year’s event,” says ATA President and CEO Bill Graves. “Our industry needs more than 140,000 new technicians and diesel engine specialists by 2022 and this event is a great chance to shine a light on these opportunities in our industry.”
