Gordon Truck Centers offering technology scholarship

Gordon Truck Centers (GTC) announces it is offering a two-year renewable diesel technology scholarship of up to $15,000 for graduating high school seniors in the Sumner, Wash., school district. GTC says this scholarship is intended to support the next generation of students choosing a career in diesel technology.

Students who are interested in diesel technology should have excellent problem solving sills as well as mechanical aptitude. Diesel technology is a growing and changing field with many different career opportunities. As the industry moves forward with new technology, computer and other skills are increasingly necessary for a diesel technician.

While the GTC family is hoping to help with future diesel techs on the dealership level, typical career opportunities are also in the trucking, farming, and earth-moving equipment fields as well as power generation, construction, truck service centers, truck equipment distributors, independent service companies as well as automotive parts manufacturers.

“This scholarship will open a door for a student to complete a two year diesel technician program,” says Scott Gordon, president at GTC. “Our family is proud of the local students and excited to help support the new generation of diesel technicians in the community.”

GTC says interested parties should contact Bonney Lake or Sumner High School career counselors for an application.
