Using A Ranger R980 Dp Tire Changer

Ranger introduced a new swing-arm tire changer with two power assist arms. The R980DP tire changer also has a new bead roller and other features to improve productivity, Ranger says.

"As the technician population continues to age, and the shortage gets worse, Ranger is dedicated to developing equipment like the R980DP tire changer to reduce physical strain on techs while helping to improve their efficiency and shop throughput," says Dave Wiederschall, sales manager. "It's virtually impossible for most technicians to quickly change modern low-profile tires without help — either from a power-assist device or another tech. The Ranger R980DP tire changer's two pneumatic assist arms give technicians the power boost they need to effortlessly handle the most demanding jobs."

The R980DP can handle low-profile, run-flat and heavy-duty and off-road tires. The left-side articulating arm has a multifunction bird-shaped head that is a traveling drop-center tool to accommodate a range of wheel edge profiles. It can also be used as a tire hook. The hold-down-head accessory to facilitate outside clamping on low-profile tire/wheel combos or act as a safety restraint device during inflation.

The tire changer also has the company's TurboBlast Bead Seating System, upfront controls for an operator-friendly layout, a spring-assisted hex tool shaft and hardened outrigger arm. The No-Mar RimGuard wheel clamps can accommodate wheels from nine to 30 inches without damage, Ranger says.

It feautres industrial-grade pneumatic control valves, high-pressure polyurethane pneumatic tubing, forged steel pedals and a maintenance-free gearbox with a large oil and grease reservoir.
