Carrier Transicold’s all-electric, fully autonomous Vector eCool trailer refrigeration system, was recently recognized by Environment + Energy Leader as a Top Product of the Year for 2022.
Carrier reaffirmed its commitment to reducing emissions, improving sustainability and increasing efficiency across the refrigerated transport sector with the launch of the first fully autonomous, all-electric engineless Vector eCool refrigerated trailer system in 2020. Vector eCool combines the company’s E-Drive all-electric technology with a new cutting-edge energy recovery and storage system, the company says. This converts kinetic energy generated by the trailer into electricity, which is then stored in a battery pack to power the refrigeration unit. This loop creates a fully autonomous system that produces no direct carbon dioxide (CO2) or particulate emissions, the company adds.
The Environment + Energy Leader Awards is a program recognizing excellence in products and services that provide companies with energy and environmental benefits, and in projects implemented by companies that improved environmental or energy management and increased the bottom line. The win is an indication that the program’s expert judges consider the Vector eCool system a top example of the exemplary work being done today in the fields of energy and environmental management.
Carrier Transicold says the Vector eCool system underlines its commitment to providing solutions designed at reducing emissions, improving reliability and increasing efficiency throughout the refrigerated transport sector. The Vector eCool system is the latest example of how Carrier is working to help its customers reduce their carbon footprint by more than 1 gigaton as part of its 2030 Environmental, Social and Governance goals.
