The following safety recalls were issued Monday by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA):
- Blue Bird Bus Company is recalling certain 2022-2027 Vision school buses. The exhaust hanger cotter pin may contact the hydraulic brake line, damaging the line and causing a brake fluid leak. A brake fluid leak in the presence of an ignition source such as hot engine or exhaust components can increase the risk of a fire. Additionally, a brake fluid leak can extend the distance required to stop, increasing the risk of a crash. NHTSA says 5,096 units are potentially affected by the recall.
- Blue Bird Bus Company is recalling certain 2022-2027 Vision transit buses. The exhaust hanger cotter pin may contact the hydraulic brake line, damaging the line and causing a brake fluid leak. A brake fluid leak in the presence of an ignition source such as hot engine or exhaust components can increase the risk of a fire. Additionally, a brake fluid leak can extend the distance required to stop, increasing the risk of a crash. NHTSA says 29 units are potentially affected by the recall.
- Coach and Equipment Mfg. Corporation is recalling certain 2024-2025 Phoenix, and 2025-2026 Metrolite transit buses, equipped with certain S-Series wheelchair platform lifts. The electrical contactor may fail, preventing the controls from stopping the lift. A wheelchair lift that continues to move while occupied increases the risk of injury. NHTSA says 131 units are potentially affected by the recall.
- Great Dane Trailers is recalling certain 2027 Champion dry van trailers The trailers may have been produced without the installation of the rear impact guard extension channels. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 224, "Rear Impact Protection." A rear impact guard that is not properly installed can increase the risk of injury during a crash. NHTSA says 11 units are potentially affected by the recall.
- International Motors is recalling certain 2025-2027 IC Bus EVSB and CESB school buses. The driver's window panel and entrance door vertical joints may have been attached without sufficient epoxy coverage. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of FMVSS No. 221, "School Bus Body Joint Strength." The body panels may separate during a crash, reducing structural integrity and increasing the risk of injury. NHTSA says 22,730 units are potentially affected by the recall.
- International Motors is recalling certain 2021, 2023-2027 MV, and 2026-2027 HV vehicles. The battery interconnect cable may contact the auxiliary stud and hold down bracket, causing a short circuit. A short circuit increases the risk of a fire. NHTSA says 15,628 units are potentially affected by the recall.
- International Motors is recalling certain 2025-2027 IC Bus CECB transit buses. The driver's window panel and entrance door vertical joints may have been attached without sufficient epoxy coverage. As such these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of FMVSS No. 221, "School Bus Body Joint Strength." The body panels may separate during a crash, reducing structural integrity and increasing the risk of injury. NHTSA says 50 units are potentially affected by the recall.
- Wabash National Corporation is recalling certain 2021-2026 Econex Refrigerated Body vehicles. The side door stirrup steps are not properly secured and may detach. Steps that detach while in use increase the risk of injury. Additionally, steps that detach while in transit increase the risk of a crash. NHTSA says 357 units are potentially affected by the recall.
