Karmak announced Tuesday it licensed official vehicle maintenance reporting standards (VMRS) data from ATA's Technology & Maintenance Council (TMC). It's the first step in the company's VMRS adoption strategy for the Fusion business system, which aims to bring more consistent, data-driven service intelligence to dealers, fleets and OEMs.

"VMRS has long been the industry standard, providing the framework for consistent and accurate maintenance reporting," says Jack Poster, VMRS services manager for TMC. "Licensing VMRS data shows Karmak's commitment to aligning with best practices and will help the industry move toward more effective, data-driven operations."

Karmak says VMRS will improve data accuracy, increase operational efficiency, lay a foundation for predictive analytics, and enhance industry collaboration.

"Karmak's deeper integration of VMRS is a significant step forward. For years, commercial fleets have relied on VMRS as the common language for tracking maintenance activities and costs. The need for service providers to deliver actionable insights to fleets is greater than ever," says Wally Williams, senior vice president of business processes and information technology at W.W. Williams. "By leveraging VMRS, we help fleets break down costs by specific components and repair actions, empowering them to make data-driven decisions about their equipment."

As part of the implementation of VMRS data, Karmak says it will offer training materials and best practices to help users maximize the benefits of the data. Karmak also announced a data partnership with Decisiv during the TMC Annual Meeting.

"Licensing VMRS data is a foundational milestone in our effort to provide customers with robust service intelligence tools and data," says John Cowan, vice president of business solutions at Karmak. "Our future goal is to further integrate VMRS into Fusion's Service and Parts modules, driving better decision-making and improved ROI for those we serve."
