Val Breitag with TLG Peterbilt was named the winner of the Marvin F. Gordon Lifetime Achievement Award by the Used Truck Association (UTA) during its annual convention opening session Thursday in Orlando.
In a quick acceptance speech, Breitag thanked his wife and family, as well as and TLG Dealer Principal Claire Larson for bringing him into the used truck sector.
“In life, you’re always dealt someone who helps you along the way and for me that person has been Claire Larson,” he said.
Other finalists for the award were Andy Holloway of Truck Valley LLC, and Doug Carmichael of Transport Enterprise Leasing, the latter of which was honored posthumously after passing away in June.
The UTA also announced its annual scholarship winners and members of the year during Thursday’s opening session. Brian Ward was named the organization’s OEM Dealer of the Year and Steve Bootsma earned the non-OEM honor. Charles Bowles was named the vendor of the year.
The UTA also honored Hal Dickson Thursday for his longtime support of the UTA and many years at Convention Chair.
This year's convention is the 25th in UTA history. More than 715 attendees are on-site in Orlando for the event, which concludes Saturday.
