Used Cl8 Retail Summary Heat Map December 2025 Prelim

Preliminary Class 8 same dealer used retail sales experienced a 12% increase in month-over-month volumes in December, ACT Research revealed in its most used truck industry report.

The bump outpaces historic averages, which called for a 9% increase, says ACT Vice President Steve Tam, who adds in the auction market volumes were even higher, rising 50% over November.

Tam says the one weak spot for volumes was the wholesale space, which was down 7% from November. Overall, Tam says “total reported December preliminary sales came in 22% above November.”

Back in the retail space, Tam says “the preliminary average retail price (same dealer sales) of used Class 8 trucks rose month over month for the first time in five months in December, advancing 8.0% month over month to $57,135. December pricing lagged seasonal expectations, which called for a 10% increase.”

Price Digests shows weaker numbers

Unfortunately, the price bump reported by ACT wasn’t found everywhere.

According to TPS sister brand Price Digests’ used truck values index, Class 8 sleeper market value was more mixed in December. For 2-, 5- and 10-year-old trucks, price was down across the board in December after holding mostly steady throughout the fall.
