American Trucking Associations’ Technology & Maintenance Council (TMC) will hold its 2015 Fall Meeting and 11th annual National Technician Skills Competition – TMCSuperTech 2015 – Sept. 21-24 at the Walt Disney Swan & Dolphin Resort in Orlando, Fla.

Carl Kirk, ATA vice president of maintenance, information technology & logistics, says the meeting’s theme will be “Maintenance Today, Profit Tomorrow” and will center around finding answers to the environmental, economic and regulatory challenges facing the industry.

“While our drivers and trucks move America’s goods, our technicians play a huge role in keeping them on the road,” says ATA President and CEO Bill Graves. “TMCSuperTech is a tremendous opportunity to highlight this and TMC’s Fall Meeting is an excellent chance for our industry’s best and brightest to learn about the latest trends in trucking.”

The TMC Fall Meeting will feature technical sessions covering topics including troubleshooting aftertreatment systems, electronic driver vehicle inspections and cybersecurity, as well as a number of smaller educational sessions on a variety of topics from recruiting and mentorship to fuel system management and electronic issues.

More than 100 Task Forces will meet on the opening day to continue work on recommended practices, information reports and position papers. TMC’s annual Fleet Talk will provide the opportunity for maintenance and equipment professionals to exchange information related to equipment problems. During the Town Meeting, TMC’s Fleet Operator’s Forum will provide the opportunity for maintenance and equipment professionals to seek redress for unresolved equipment issues they have with manufacturers.

TMC’s annual Industry Luncheon speaker will be Kenneth Vieth, president and senior analyst for ACT Research Co. where he is the company’s principal heavy-truck and trailer market analyst.

Concurrently with the TMC Fall Meeting, top technicians from across the country will compete in the National Technician Skills Competition – TMCSuperTech 2015 – held in conjunction with TMC’s Fall Meeting. A qualifying round of exams will be held on Monday with a reception and announcement of qualifying competitors for Tuesday’s hands-on skills challenge.
