New Qwik Tech Tips focuses on gladhand maintenance

Phillips Industries has published its newest issue of Qwik Tech Tips, this month covering “Swinger Gladhand General Care and Maintenance.”

“Swinger gladhands were designed to help eliminate damage due to pull-away or tight/jack-knife turns, as well as reducing impact where straight or angled gladhands are exposed to damage,” the company says. “To keep swinger gladhands in good working order, preventative maintenance should be performed every 3-6 months, or at each scheduled preventative maintenance interval.”

Phillips offers four steps for general maintaining of the gladhands and two more tips for caring for the swinger arm in the issue.

Additionally, Phillips says that “as a recommended practice, gladhands should be replaced when air lines are replaced. Gladhand seals should be changed out once a year. These recommended replacement practices are suggested when signs of heavy wear, corrosion, cracking, damage, etc. are NOT visible, in which case they should be replaced much sooner.”
