ACT developing report on potential of electric trucks

Updated Dec 11, 2017

ACT Research says it is working to develop a multi-client study, examining the market potential in the U.S. and Canada for electric medium- and heavy-duty commercial vehicles through 2035.

Advances in electrical technology and tightening environmental regulations, the agency says, have moved the commercial vehicle industry toward new powertrains like battery electric vehicles.

Because of the rapid pace of change, ACT said that electric vehicles may become cost- competitive with diesel trucks in the future. ACT is developing this report to provide a more complete picture of the near future for electric commercial vehicles.

Jim Meil, Kenny Vieth and Steve Tam from ACT Research, authors of the new Commercial Truck Dealer Future Landscape Study, will present the results at ATD Show 2018 in Las Vegas on March 24.
