The Used Truck Association (UTA) announced last week its 20th annual convention, which will be held in Indian Wells, Calif., in November, will include networking events designed to foster business relationships and raise money for scholarships, all while allowing attendees to relax and have fun!

UTA says the convention’s networking tours will take place Friday, Nov 8. From golf, to a 5K walk/run, to aerial tours of the gorgeous desert backdrop, to a celebrity home tour, there are events for everyone. The sports-minded can take part in a 5K benefitting the UTA Jerome Nerman Family Educational Fund. (The Educational Fund presents 10 scholarships annually at the Convention to incoming college students.) Then there’s the annual UTA John Gresley Golf Tournament where golfers can enjoy a world-class golf course with spectacular views of the San Jacinto Mountains.

Other networking tours also offer attendees one-on-one time with used truck industry colleagues in a relaxed and fun atmosphere. These include an aerial tramway tour and a celebrity home tour, the association says.

The networking tours are always a convention highlight, organizers add, and they fill quickly.

“It is on these tours where a lot of business is done,” says Convention Co-Chair Hal Dickson. “And just as important, new business relationships begin–all while attendees are having an enjoyable, fun time.”

Registering today will improve an attendee’s chances to be in the tour of their choice. Early bird registration pricing is available through Aug. 31. For more information about the convention and its networking events, and to register, please CLICK HERE.

UTA aftertreatment webinar earns high marks

The UTA also announced last week that its Aug. 22 webinar on Cummins aftertreatment systems was attended by more than 200 guests and was among the best received webinars in recent association history.

“Truck dealers, truck sales people, and truckers need to know what is going on and how to successfully operate trucks with emissions systems,” says Jody Johnson, UTA training committee chair.

During the webinar, UTA says Mark Ulrich, director, customer support, Cummins discussed:

  • The differences and similarities between EPA 2013 and 2017 emissions systems
  • How emissions systems work
  • Optimizing emission system life and performance, including practical tips for doing so

Ulrich then took questions from the field.

Both the UTA and Cummins were pleased with how the event went.

“The UTA is committed to offering a wide variety of training to our members and to the truck industry. Why wouldn’t you and your people access all the free training they can,?” asks Amy Shahan, UTA training committee co-chair.

“Cummins was pleased to provide this free training to the UTA,” adds Cummins Executive Nick Roth.
