On Monday Truck Parts & Service announced its finalists for the 2015 Distributor of the Year award. We are now taking a brief look at each nominated distributor.

For information on Jerry and Keith’s, we turn to CEO Mark Decker.

When was you business founded, and by whom?

In 1968 by Keith Decker, Nadine Decker and Jerry Thomas.

How many locations do you have?

One in Bakersfield, Calif.

How many employees do you have?

39 team members.

What is your company’s value proposition?

Our mission is to remain a recognized leader in providing truck parts and services as well as professional information including technology and solutions for industry, and both local and state governments.

We are committed to supporting our clients by delivering cost effective solutions to all their parts and service requirements while remaining both ethical and reliable. We strive to provide only high quality solutions of strategic value while sustaining a challenging and rewarding work environment for our greatest asset, our employees

What has been the biggest change in your business over the past calendar year?

Kern County is the No. 1 oil producing county in California as you know that industry has stopped. JKI is seeing my oil accounts down as much as 70 percent year-to-date. This is a big detriment to our sales volume. The big challenge is trying to replace the business.

Why do you believe the heavy-duty aftermarket has nominated you for this award?

We as a corporation strive to stay ahead of industry standards in regard to our customer service and knowledge. We keep our employees updated and trained on the newest and best technology available. In order to accomplish this we hold weekly training meetings with our sales force and team members.

Our building and facility are state of the art and one of the cleanest businesses you will see in this type of industry. We present a very professional attitude to our customers. Our team members are not only knowledgeable but the customer service we offer to our customers is outstanding.

We make it a point for our employees to be part of a team, not just an employee. We also try our hardest to provide the best benefit package available for our employees to keep them happy, healthy and ready to report for work.

I am proud of what we have accomplished and am pleased to think that my peers in this industry have acknowledged this with our nomination.
