Purkeys has introduced its DIRECT liftgate charging system, which the company says seeks to eliminate voltage drop as current moves from the front of a vehicle to the liftgate to charge liftgate batteries.
Purkeys says the system works by boosting the charge going into the liftgate battery to ensure batteries can reach a full state of charge.
This is valuable for a number of reasons, the company says. A liftgate operates more slowly when used at a low state of charge. Liftgate batteries at a low state of charge also may lead to road calls and lost revenue for trucking fleets. Purkeys’ DIRECT monitors battery voltage and boosts the charge in order to keep batteries at a high state of charge. Fully charged batteries are more reliable, ensure maximum performance, and keep electrical equipment operational for longer, the company says.
