Service Opportunities Learning Days (SOLD) has released its agenda for its 2018 event, scheduled for Jan. 21-22, 2018, at the Mirage in Las Vegas preceding Heavy Duty Aftermarket Week (HDAW).
Next year’s event will kick off with three presentations on Sunday Jan. 21 regarding the use of composites in the commercial vehicle industry. Presenters Ginger Gardiner, Michael J. Hoke and John Spoto will bring their expertise on the composite industry to SOLD and provide valuable guidance on maintaining and repairing composite surfaces found on today’s heavy-duty equipment.
The following day’s event will begin with a presentation by Derek Kaufman on ‘How Emerging Technologies Will Change the Trucking Aftermarket.’ SOLD organizers say “changes in truck design, materials, logistics management and dealer ownership will present challenges and opportunities to the trucking aftermarket. In this presentation, Derek will present the future of truck technology and a look at the next ten years of transportation logistics with emphasis on their effects on truck service.”
Kaufman’s future-centric presentation will be followed by presentations by Meritor’s Douglas King on electronic stability control, then attorney Erica Eversman on the importance of recommended practices in collision repair. After Eversman’s presentation, George Arrants with WheelTime the and the ATA’s Technology & Maintenance Council (TMC) will offer guidance on accessing and using the recommended practices found in TMC’s library.
The annual event will then conclude with a presentation by Betts Truck Parts & Service CEO Mike Betts on his region’s continuing effort to build heavy-duty technician training programs to feed area service facilities. SOLD organizers say “these new and exciting NATEF accredited programs are examples of what can and should be happening across America.”
