Fed’s Strauss to address global economy at Aftermarket Dialogue

The Heavy Duty Manufacturers Association (HDMA) and MacKay & Company announced Monday that Bill Strauss, senior economist and economic advisor for the Chicago Federal Reserve will discuss ‘The Global Economy – The Growing Interdependence’ to open Heavy Duty Aftermarket Dialogue (HDAD) next month in Las Vegas.

HDAD is scheduled for Monday, Jan. 22, 2018, at the Mirage, immediately preceding Heavy Duty Aftermarket Week 2018. The day-long conference will to be held in the Terry Fator Theater from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Strauss will kick off the event with a presentation focused on the growing interdependence of individual global economies with an historical, present and anticipated future outlook in key geographic regions. HDAD organizers says Strauss will also discuss what is driving, or hindering, the interrelationship between countries, including the current hot-button topics of the NAFTA renegotiation, BREXIT and the EU impact, if any, as well as the impact of the Korean turmoil on China and what to potentially expect all of these factors to impact the truck industry as we know it today.

Following Strauss, HDAD organizers say other individual presenters and separate distribution executive panel-discussions will address the following topics:

  • Globalization of the Truck/Transportation Industry and Impact on and Disruption of OEM/Aftermarket Supplier
  • Global Truck OEM Keynote
  • Aftermarket Overview & Outlook
  • Meeting the Parts & Service Needs of Today’s Fleets
  • Aftermarket Disruptor – How changes in the OE markets and distributive environments are/will impact heavy duty distributors

Event organizers says additional panelists and speakers to be announced shortly.

For interested parties, conference registration include: digital presentation materials; breakfast, breaks, a networking luncheon; and the HDAW All-Industry Reception—all of which are intended to facilitate networking with industry peers. Those planning to attend are encouraged to arrive on Sunday, Jan. 21, to prepare for the conference’s early Monday start time.
