Stephen Fox, vice president of business development for Stoneridge, says the company has conducted MirrorEye CMS fleet trials for the past year in preparation of a North American launch.
“After conducting very successful fleet trials with some of the top safety fleets in North America, we are prepared to offer this advanced vision and safety solution to a greater number of fleets for evaluation,” he says.
The company plans to extend the trail program, allowing fleet owners to experience the safety and vision benefits they says MirrorEye technology provides, such as blind spot reduction, night vision, trailer panning, expanded fields of view and high definition camera and display technology.
While North American fleets are currently legally required to have physical mirrors, Fox says the aerodynamics of removing them in European trucks has shown fuel cost savings of up to three percent annually.
