Friday was a big news day for the aftermarket in Butler, Wis., as local companies Auto Brake Clutch and Gear and the Brake and Equipment Company announced they will formally merge on May 1, 2018.

The merged companies will be known as Brake and Equipment Company.

“The Auto Brake name was a pillar in the local industry, making it easy to consolidate this operation with the stronger more recognized name, Brake and Equipment Company, which has had incredible acceptance throughout the area for over eight decades,” says Paul Wendelberger, president of the new company.

Wendelberger, who owns both companies, adds, “We just don’t serve the auto industry at all, but have solidified our position as the leader in the heavy-duty aftermarket truck parts market and other truck equipment categories.”

The Brake and Equipment name has been known locally since 1933, and has expanded its reach to serve all of Southeastern Wisconsin. The company says it built its reputation by providing quality products, matched by outstanding service.

“We are incredibly proud of the quality driven staff, comprised of dedicated, knowledgeable individuals that represent our two companies and will now together represent the Brake and Equipment name,” says Wendelberger. “Our main objective is to exceed the expectations of our valued customer base.”

As of May 1, 2018 the name Auto Brake Clutch and Gear will no longer be representing the local company. The newly formed entity will continue its operation from the existing location on Silver Spring Drive in Butler, Wis.
