This set features the AFA multi-layer steel core designed graphite head gasket that provides superior sealing, according to the company. The multi-layer construction ensures maximum sealing power under differential expansion and contraction between the head and block. The rigid steel core provides strength and uniform thickness control across the sealing surface of every engine application. Precision engineering of ring wire and stainless combustion seal rings provides the highest level of sealing between the head and block, the company says.
Also included are AFA’s exclusive exhaust manifold gaskets using full hard stainless steel material to manufacture these gaskets, then welded together and coated with AFA’s proprietary Afamolycote to improve the sealing of the manifold-to-head joint.
Afamolycote is AFA’s anti-friction coating that benefits the Cummins ISX/QSX engines with these features:
- Graphite content to improve sealing capabilities and anti-stick qualities
- PTFE for high heat dissipation
- Special resins to adhere the coating to the stainless steel material
- Sprayed onto gaskets, then heat cured to assure even coating layer
