Designed for diesel engines up to 16L and available in 11 and 12 tooth models, the L42 24V starter is specifically engineered for motor coaches, construction equipment and other extreme-use applications, the company says.
“Motor coach operators can’t afford the disruptions caused by downtime and construction crews need reliable starters to maintain safe and productive job sites,” says Jonathan Smith, assistant director of sales and marketing, Prestolite. “The L42 24V starter is an important addition to our product family.”
The company says features of the L42 24V starter include 7.8kW output for faster cranks and more efficient power source; a heat-treated shaft designed to protect components from extensive wear in extreme conditions; a sealed nose housing, which adds service life and protects internal components; a rotatable flange, which optimizes service flexibility and inventory concerns; new, drop-in replacement, for a high-quality and affordable alternative to a rebuilt starter; and a one-year parts warranty.
