U-Haul opened a new repair shop in Dilworth, Minnesota, on Monday.

Dilworth Repair, 1107 Center Ave. West, will serve as a maintenance hub for regional U-Haul equipment to be serviced. The shop will employ at least 21 people to assemble and maintain engines, transmissions, rear axles and more.

"We moved into this space to increase our repair capacity," says Shawn Odden, U-Haul Company of Fargo president. "We simply outgrew our Fargo repair shop location. This property is about four times larger. We look forward to the growth and success we can accomplish here."

The property was acquired in 2022 as part of a corporate sustainability initiative for infill developments to help communities lower their carbon footprint. The adaptive reuse of existing buildings, such as this former carpet store, reduces the amount of energy and resources required for new building materials and helps cities reduce their inventory of unused buildings.
