Starter heat shield for commercial trucks

Updated May 16, 2019

Heatshield says its new Lava Starter Shield is engineered with proprietary and specially formulated volcanic rock-based fibers to help protect starters from heat damage caused by high amperages and headers.

The shield is rated for 1,200°F of continuous heat and 2,000°F of intermittent heat and is designed to perform with a 0.5-in. air gap from the heat source. Heatshield says high-temperature hook-and-loop fastener strips help hold it in place, and it doesn’t conduct electricity, which helps prevent electrical issues.
