SAF-Holland announced during Heavy Duty Aftermarket Week (HDAW) 2019 the formal introduction of Holland True Lube Grease and Holland PH-405 Pintle Hook.
Christina McCumber, SAF-Holland director – product planning and market development, aftermarket, says customer feedback led to the introduction of the new True Lube grease. Instead of no longer using conventional greases, McCumber says SAF-Holland customers can use a specialty product developed specifically for its application.
Formulated through a development partnership that took more than a year, the new grease is optimized for performance from -40ºF to 150ºF. McCumber says the grease also has excellent formula stability to provide consistent smooth operation, corrosion and oxidation protection to protect gears from corrosion, excellent oil bleed control to reduce oil leaks and prevents grease hardening, salt water resistance to enable it to last in harsh coastal environments, and excellent anti-wear and load carrying to prevent gear and screw damage under heavy loads
The high-tech formula is available is in 5-gallon pails, 14-oz. tubes, and 120-lb. drums.
Additionally, McCumber says the company’s PH-405 pintle hook is an improvement on the proven PH-400 pintle hook. The robust PH-405 is manufactured with austenitic manganese steel for enhanced wear and is designed to work harden at contact surfaces with the drawbar.
McCumber says customer demand also helped spur this product development, requesting an alternative metal to alleviate the irregular wear patterns issues that occur on pintle hooks over time.
SAF-Holland says it is used with 2-3/8-in. drawbars on heavy-duty ‘A’ train (converter dolly) double and triple applications for bulk liquids, dry bulk, aggregates, and quarry materials. The long life, rigid-mount design with an 8-bolt mounting pattern is compatible with the company’s popular PH-400 model, which McCumber says will remain in production, and the Premier 2400, 100-4, and 470 models.
Backed by a two-year warranty, the PH-405 pintle hook can be used with or without air chamber.
