K&R Truck Sales, West Michigan International make donations to local charities

K&R Truck Sales and West Michigan International have raised more than $5,000 for two local charities this summer.

During the months of June and July, the dealerships designated 10 percent of their combined Fleetrite parts sales profits for donation to Love INC and People Helping People. In addition, there were four customer appreciation lunches held at the four dealership locations to increase the donation to 20 percent of the profits.

“We count it a blessing to be able to support our local charities. It is important to give back to the community where we can,” says Ed Rietman, dealer principal at K&R Truck Sales and West Michigan International. “We are grateful to our customers and employees that are supportive during our annual charity campaigns. We look forward to the next one.”

The dealerships say the mission statement of People Helping People is: “We demonstrate the love of Jesus Christ by helping our neighbors in the community of Pullman. Serving others; offering faith, hope and opportunity for all.”  People Helping People are in the process of building a Linking Center, which will provide both youth programs and adult programs to include tutoring, nutritional programs, athletics and more, the dealerships say.

The short-term strategy of Love INC is to offer support to address urgent needs such as food, clothing, personal needs, baby needs, etc. during times of crisis. For long-term help, Love INC offers the L.I.F.E. (Learning In Faith and Everyday) Skills program. The dealerships say these programs seek to serve any family or individual who is having trouble with daily living and is ready to make a change and take the next steps toward building a more secure and stable life.

This year’s charity drive is part of K&R Truck Sales and West Michigan International’s annual campaign to raise money for local charities.
