Summit Idealease hosts safety seminar

Summit Idealease of Memphis sponsored a private truck fleet safety and compliance seminar called “Navigating Safety & Compliance in 2018” last weekend at the Fogelman Executive Conference Center on the University of Memphis Campus in Memphis TN.

The one-day session focused on helping private truck fleet professionals manage fleet safety in all significant areas scrutinized during state and federal compliance interventions and reviews. The safety training was provided for fleet managers to help reduce violations and accidents, as well as satisfy annual Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) compliance requirements, Summit says.

Idealease, Inc., provided the seminar, and 22 other sessions held throughout the year across the United States and Canada, in partnership with the National Private Truck Council (NPTC). The NTPC is a national trade association that represents private motor carriers.

Sponsors supporting the seminar in Memphis included TAP Publishing Company, Hercules, Anthony Liftgates, Assured Telematics, Meritor, Goodyear, and Bennett Davis Group. Summit Idealease says topics on the agenda included ELD regulations implementation, other new and proposed regulations, an update on FMCSA’s Compliance Safety & Accountability Program (CSA), applicability of federal and state safety regulations, driver qualifications, drug and alcohol testing regulations, vehicle maintenance and inspections, and enhancing safety programs beyond requirements.

Each seminar recipient received The Idealease Guide to Transportation Safety & Compliance Manual, a tool that can be referenced throughout the coming year to assist fleets with safety and compliance documentation.

“This is the fifth year that Idealease of Memphis has hosted this event. At last year’s event, we had 125 customers attend, and we topped that this year with 130 participants,” says Cal Alexander, Summit’s vice president for lease and rental. ” We were fortunate that David Bement, director of technical training for Idealease, was our primary speaker for this year’s event. Also, Tennessee State Trooper Todd Yelverton, who has worked the Hayward County Scales for the past eight years, was a guest speaker.”

Alexander adds, “The Memphis Idealease team of Charles Phillips, Jeffrey McDermott, Stuart Hellen, and Byron Preston helped drive attendance at the event, ensuring that we had another successful seminar this year. Summit Idealease supports this event as yet another service we provide to our lease and rental customers.”
