River States’ sales rep earns Leland James sales award

River States Truck and Trailer Sales Representative John Scheller has been awarded with the 2017-2018 Leland James Elite sales achievement award by Freightliner Trucks.

This is the sixth consecutive year Scheller has earned the recognition.

“John has dedicated a lot of time and hard work to his customers. For him to be honored with this award was not totally surprising,” says Joe Laux, president at River States Truck and Trailer.

The Leland James Award was created in 2003 and named after Freightliner Trucks’ founder Leland James.  Leland James founded Consolidated Freight Lines in 1929.  That led to Freightways Manufacturing Company in 1940, which eventually became Freightliner. The company says the Leland James program recognizes and rewards outstanding sales results of sales professionals.

Scheller has been with River States for almost 15 years. He focuses much of his sales on vocational units and credits his success to the sales support staff.

“You may be able to throw a 100 mph fastball, but if someone hits one, you need a good team behind you. Otherwise, winning is an improbability,” says Scheller.
