ZF Aftermarket is expanding its training offerings for technicians in commercial vehicle fleets, distributors and independent aftermarket service shops in North America with the addition of a course on the ZF PowerLine 8-speed automatic transmission for commercial vehicles.
The course is offered for free within the company’s online training platform, ZF [pro]Academy, and launches as ZF is ramping up production of the PowerLine transmission in the U.S.
ZF says the new course is designed to provide technicians with a deeper understanding of the PowerLine transmission, going into greater detail than the information available in product support literature. Participants are guided through product maintenance procedures and schedules, as well as different variants and features within the product line, proper component identification, and important details regarding the specific functions of each component.
The ZF [pro]Academy Repair modules will walk technicians through the step-by-step procedures on how to efficiently repair and replace components including torque specs, tightening sequences, as well as specific tools required for each task.

“We are proud and excited to continue expanding the advanced technical training we offer to CV technicians through ZF [pro]Academy,” sai Steve Bashir, Head of CV Aftermarket North America. “As OEs increasingly adopt PowerLine as the transmission of choice, commercial vehicle fleets, distributors and independent service providers will be seeing more and more of them in their shops. With this training from ZF [pro]Academy, they’ll be well prepared to offer excellent service and maintenance.”
