Yokohama will offer more sizes for its 124R and 714R commercial tires, the company announced Monday.
The 124R is an all-position radial tire designed to keep regional pick-up and delivery fleets. It has three new sizes: 225/70R19.5, 275/70R22.5 and 255/70R22.5. The 124R meets or exceeds the industry's required performance criteria for severe snow service and has the three-peak mountain snowflake symbol.
The 124R offers deep sipes for improved wet and snow breaking and four wavy, circumferential grooves to promote even wear and offer optimal traction in the wet and snow. Its extra-wide tread promotes a better dispersal of contact pressure, delivering longer tread life, the company says, and rigid shoulder ribs enhance driving stability and offer step-down wear. It has a six-year unlimited retread casing warranty on 17.5-inch and 19.5-inch sizes, and a seven-year warranty on 22.5-inch sizes.
"The 124R is built for lasting value. It delivers fleets a boost to their bottom line with longer original tread life and year-round performance," says Tom Clauer, Yokohama's senior manager of commercial product planning.
The 714R is designed for urban pick-up and delivery applications. It's an open shoulder drive tire that has one new size, 255/70R22.5. It also has the three-peak mountain snowflake symbol. It has open shoulder grooves that Yokohama says improve traction in wet or snowy conditions, along with a new wide tread pattern to deliver longer original tread life. Tie-bar connectors control block movement, minimizing heel-toe wear, and funnel-shaped grooves that prevent debris from causing casing damage.
