Honeywell creates genuine parts identification program

Updated Mar 16, 2011

Garrett By HoneywellHoneywell Turbo Technologies has initiated an aftermarket certification program to identify authorized distributors and eliminate the proliferation of counterfeit parts of its Garrett brand portfolio. The new Garrett Authorized Center network will certify distributors and dealers who are authorized to sell and service Garrett brand products, which the company says will be used to avoid the proliferation of non-genuine parts.

“Honeywell and Garrett have spent decades developing the intellectual property that has made us the leader in the turbo industry,” says Ed Goodwin, director of global aftermarket at Honeywell. “Service centers, garages, fleet managers – they all want to know where to go to get the real deal. They know the real value of genuine parts versus the inherent risks of non-certified components.”

Under this new program, Honeywell has created a logo to easily identify authorized Garrett centers operating under this program. According to the company, Honeywell limits its business to distributorships and dealerships acting under the Garrett center logo and backing. These stores will have access to all of Garrett’s 3,000 part numbers and products. According to Honeywell, copy and counterfeit parts represent approximately 30 percent of the sales of aftermarket parts.
