“The creation of this new role will enhance our global research and development coordination, and help us better deliver value and effective solutions to the commercial vehicle market,” says Joe McAleese, Bendix president and chief executive officer. “Richard’s extensive engineering knowledge and industry experience have provided him a valuable perspective on global technology that will help us further align our priorities and apply the right resources to meet our engineering and R&D objectives to deliver results.”
As director of technical sales, Beyer worked with the original equipment and technical sales force team, the controls group and Bendix Spicer Foundation Brake to drive a cohesive strategy to customers. In his new position, he will help engage with both Bendix and its customers in the development and enhancement of their technology road maps, using those insights to drive a long-term technology development strategy and create a strengthened global R&D network.
Working in tandem with product line and business unit leadership at Bendix and its parent company, Munich, Germany-based Knorr-Bremse, Beyer will help drive an even stronger global approach for product development and technology advancement for future vehicle and system architecture. He also will serve as a key resource for the Bendix government relations team in its legislative and regulatory dialogues by providing insight and long-term perspective regarding the technological impact of potential federal and state regulatory actions.

Prior to joining Bendix, Beyer worked for the heavy-duty vehicle division at Bosch, which merged its electronic brake control activities with the Knorr-Bremse Group in 1999. He also held various leadership engineering and technical sales positions at AVL North America, Chrysler and GM. Beyer has more than 20 years of experience in commercial vehicle air brake components and systems. He joined Bendix in 2001 as manager of technical sales for antilock braking systems.
