Blackmer releases new sliding vane pump

Updated May 1, 2012

Blackmer Stx2 A DefBlackmer has announced the availability of the STX2A-DEF Sliding Vane Pump, designed specifically for the transfer of AdBlue.

Producers, distributors and handlers of AdBlue must be aware of its corrosive properties, Blackmer says, which make it incompatible with a wide array of metals, such as carbon steel, copper, zinc, lead and aluminum, or any plastics or metals coated with nickel. If AdBlue is used with any of these materials, trace levels may be found in the fluid, rendering it unusable. In fact, vehicles that use contaminated AdBlue can be susceptible to severe engine and SCR system damage, the company says.

Blackmer designed its new STX2A-DEF pumps with 316 stainless steel, which it says allows them to meet the ISO 22241 material and cleanliness standards that are required for AdBlue-handling applications. Blackmer says the STX2A-DEF pumps offer lower flow rates end-users require — from 60 to 227 lpm (15 to 60 gpm).

Other features of the STX2A-DEF pump are said to be:

  • Meets ISO 22241 material standards and cleanliness specifications required for AdBlue applications
  • 316 stainless-steel construction
  • Push rods provide slower pump speeds from 350 to 780 RPM
  • Maximum viscosities of 4,600 SSU (970 cSt)
  • PTFE elastomers and standard Duravanes
  • 90-degree porting with weld flanges
  • Dimensional interchangeability with Blackmer TXD2, TXD1220 and STX1220A pump models
  • Ball bearing construction with PTFE chemical mechanical seals
  • Internal adjustable relief valve
  • Three drain ports to allow draining in any mounting position
