The following safety recalls were issued Monday by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA):
- General Motors is recalling certain 2020-2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, 2500, 3500, GMC Sierra 1500, 2500, 3500, 2021 Cadillac Escalade, Escalade ESV, Chevrolet Tahoe, Suburban, GMC Yukon, and Yukon XL vehicles equipped with diesel engines. The transmission control valve may fail and cause the rear wheels to lock-up. Rear wheel lock-up can increase the risk of a crash. NHTSA says 461,839 units are potentially affected by the recall.
- General Motors is recalling certain 2022-2023 Chevrolet Express and GMC Savana vehicles. Incorrect software in the transmission control module (TCM) may result in harsh shifting, reduced power, unintended deceleration, rear wheel lockup, or cause the vehicle to move in an unintended direction. Rear wheel lock-up or moving in an unintended direction can increase the risk of a crash. NHTSA says 77,824 units are potentially affected by the recall.
- Micro Bird is recalling certain 2022-2024 T-Series school buses equipped with an anti-vandal lock on the rear emergency door. The ignition interlock may allow the vehicle to start when the rear emergency door is locked after the key has been inserted in the ignition. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 217, "Bus Emergency Exits and Window Retention and Release." An emergency exit door that is locked can prevent or delay occupants from exiting the vehicle during an emergency, increasing the risk of injury. NHTSA says 424 units are potentially affected by the recall.
- Micro Bird is recalling certain 2023 CT-Series vehicles equipped with a anti-vandal lock on the rear emergency door. The ignition interlock may allow the vehicle to start when the rear emergency door is locked after the key has been inserted in the ignition. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with FMVSS number 217, "Bus Emergency Exits and Window Retention and Release." An emergency exit door that is locked can prevent or delay occupants from exiting the vehicle during an emergency, increasing the risk of injury. NHTSA says 13 units are potentially affected by the recall.
- Nikola Corporation is recalling certain 2022-2023 Tre BEV vehicles. A resistor may degrade, causing the instrument panel to fail. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of FMVSS number 101, "Control and Displays." An instrument panel that fails to display critical safety information, such as the speedometer or warning lights, increases the risk of a crash. NHTSA says 72 units are potentially affected by the recall.
- Tesla is recalling certain 2024 Cybertruck vehicles. A fault in the drive inverter may cause a loss of drive power to the wheels. A loss of drive power can increase the risk of a crash. NHTSA says 2,431 units are potentially affected by the recall.
- Winnebago Towable is recalling certain 2022 Micro Minnie FLX and Hike travel trailers. The mounting hardware may come loose, allowing the solar panel to detach. A detached solar panel can become a road hazard, increasing the risk of a crash. HTSA says 1,211 units are potentially affected by the recall.
