Safety Recalls

The following safety recalls were issued Monday by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA):

  • General Motors is recalling certain 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, GMC Sierra 1500, 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 2500, Silverado 3500, GMC Sierra 2500, and Sierra 3500 vehicles. The left-side or right-side roof rail air bag (RRAB) inflator end cap may detach from the inflator or the inflator sidewall may rupture. A detached end cap or inflator rupture can allow compressed gas to escape and project the end cap or fragments of the inflator into the vehicle, increasing the risk of injury. NHTSA says 2,785 units are potentially affected by the recall.
  • International Motors is recalling certain 2026-2027 IC Bus EVSB school buses. The mounting bracket bolts may have been improperly tightened, allowing the drive motor to detach. A detach drive motor can become a road hazard for other vehicles, increasing the risk of a crash or injury. NHTSA says 125 units are potentially affected by the recall.
  • International Motors is recalling certain 2027 IC Bus CESB school buses. The retractors may not lock, preventing the wheelchair from being properly secured. An unsecured wheelchair can move during transit, increasing the risk of injury. NHTSA says 71 units are potentially affected by the recall.
  • Shyft Group is recalling certain 2025 Spartan RV Chassis K1, 2024-2026 RV Chassis K2, RV Chassis K3, and 2025-2027 RV Chassis K4 vehicles. The exterior brake lights may remain illuminated when the driver is not applying the brakes. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment." Brake lights that remain on may fail to alert other vehicles of the driver's intention, increasing the risk of a crash. NHTSA says 836 units are potentially affected by the recall.
  • Wabash National Corporation is recalling certain 2019-2023 Transcraft Platform and 2024-2027 Wabash Platform trailers. The conspicuity tape may not have been installed. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of FMVSS number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment." Missing conspicuity tape can reduce the visibility of the trailer to other drivers, increasing the risk of a crash. NHTSA says 721 units are potentially affected by the recall.
