Monterrey will be the home for Volvo Group's $700 million heavy-duty truck manufacturing plant, the company announced Friday.

The plant will supplement U.S. truck production and provide additional capacity for the growth of both Volvo and Mack. It is expected to be operational in 2026. Volvo Group says Monterrey has logistical efficiency for supporting sales to the U.S., Mexico and Latin America. It also has a well-developed infrastructure and proximity to the U.S. border that make it an ideal location, the company continued.
The investment in Monterrey is part of a comprehensive effort to increase the strength and flexibility of Volvo Group's industrial footprint and supply chain, including an agreement to acquire the Commercial Vehicle Group's production plant in North Carolina, which produces cabs for Mack's heavy- and medium-duty trucks. The $40 million agreement was announced Aug. 1 and is expected to close later this year.

Heavy-duty manufacturing dots the Monterrey landscape. Bendix has a technical center there, and Grote has an engineering and production facility. Maxon Lift's second manufacturing plant is in Monterrey, and Haldex also has a plant there.
