Members of the American Trailer Manufacturers Coalition (ATMC) told the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) to provide relief for American trailer manufacturers.
The manufacturers have been injured by dumped and subsidized imports, the organization says, and it's asking the ITC to build in a determination earlier this year that recognized dumped and subsidized van trailer imports as harmful to American manufacturers.

"The data and evidence presented demonstrates that the American trailer manufacturers have been injured and are threatened with further injury if trade remedies are not imposed against imports of van trailers from China, Mexico and Canada," says Robert E. DeFrancesco, council to the trailer trade group and partner at Wiley LLP. "If given a level playing field, American trailer manufacturers can compete with anyone and will strengthen the entire American supply chain. An affirmative determination by the ITC is critical to saving this great American manufacturing industry and their 50,000 workers from the predatory trade practice of China, Mexico and Canada."

A final determination from ITC could pave the way for the U.S. Department of Commerce to impose final antidumping and countervailing duties on imported trailers from Mexico, Canada and China.
The American Trailer Manufacturers Coalition is a group of U.S. trailer producers, including Great Dane, Stoughton Trailers and Wabash.
