We talk about the EPA’s 2027 NOx regulation this week. Specifically, how it could change. The EPA announced Monday the regulation will undergo “major changes” but will still be implemented on Jan. 1, 2027, so we posit what those changes could be. We also mention big acquisitions in the Peterbilt dealer and aftermarket parts spaces, updates to new truck, trailer and used truck sales data, the importance of e-commerce to the future of your business and more.
Lucas: Hi everybody. Lucas here for today’s TPS Weekly News Roundup.
Today I want to start with 2027, specifically the EPA 2027 NOx regulations. Now, I know there’s been some chatter in the industry that maybe we would see those regulations rolled back or delayed. That is not going to be the case. The EPA telling CCJ, our sister publication, this week the regulations will move forward and be implemented on Jan. 1, 2027. But there could be “major changes” to what the regulation says. What those major changes are, we don’t know yet. Obviously, keep up with TPS and CCJ. We will let you know as soon as we hear changes. Could be related to the warranty, could be related to the NOx levels. We don’t know. But the EPA is saying they are keeping their timeline, they’re just amending the regulations. So, keep up with that.
A couple other important pieces this week. TLG Peterbilt, our Successful Dealer Award winner this year, has acquired Performance Peterbilt. A big change in the Peterbilt dealer network. 4 State Trucks, one of the most successful e-commerce sites in the commercial truck parts space; they acquired a business in New Jersey, which will give them a stronger footprint in the New York/New Jersey marketplace.
We had updates on the used truck market and new truck orders from ACT Research. We had trailer order updates from ACT and FTR. So, if you’re a trailer dealer and you want to see where October compared to September, 2024 or prior years, check that story out.
We had a great editorial on digital self-service, which is e-commerce. Why that’s important to your business moving forward and why you need to continue to invest in that area. So, a lot of really great stories on TPS this week.
